Beneteau First 51S - $165,000 Neg.

Designed by German Frers and built by CMB on behalf of Beneteau, This superb and unique yacht was hand-crafted by Europe's most prestigious master shipwrights, using only the finest quality materials and top of the art technology.
Expressly commissioned by a Beneteau client to achieve performance and comfort, the Beneteau First 51S was far too big to be built in a the Beneteau Yards at the time. The Swan designer German Frers was chosen to design her lines, and her actual build was carried out under instructions from the Beneteau engineers by CMB, who still specialize to this day in building custom state of the art Super Yachts in Europe.
One of the flagship of the Beneteau / CMB fleet at the time, 'Vida' was conceived and built to represent the very best of Europe's most exclusive cruiser-racer range around the world.
Looking at 'Vida' the elegant and refined lines of the trademark Swan are clearly visible, with her proud bow, beautiful tumblehome sides and elongated waterline.

Adored by her consecutive owners 'Vida' was always maintained and upgraded over time according to her pedigree. In 2004, on the orders of her current owner, a 12 months rebuild and upgrade was carried out. During this period, during which the yacht was housed inside a specifically designed hall, an army of shipwrights, electrician, mechanics and other specialists joined forces into effectively re-launch the yacht as 'new'. The list of work carried out during this re-birthing period is too long to list here, but includes a full re-wiring, full strip of the hull, respraying, etc, new rigging, sails, electronics, full re-build of the engine, whole new interior, head lining etc. This work is documented in a beautiful book, which is available for you to read on board.

From the bottom of the keel to the top of the mast, this Beneteau First 51S is remarkable as much from an engineering point of view (even the most fastidious specialists will recognize the intelligence and care with which she was fitted out), as from her luxuriously appointed interior, which her princely fit-out, which is a joy to behold. Her solid mahogany walls and cabinetry, highly varnished and in immaculate condition, her polished timber floor, beautifully rounded corners, lavish soft furnishing and tasteful lighting speaks of abundance, luxury and the gone-by era of true marine craftsmanship.  Nothing but top-of-the-range equipment was installed on board, including her multiple extras installed between 2004 and 2007, such as her water-maker, reverse-cycle ducted air-conditioning, Kohler generator, Sunbrella covers, entertainment system with flat screen TV, DVD and Stereo with surround system split between the interior and cockpit, etc.

Fitted out for global cruising, her latest long distance voyage was from Thailand to Australia by way of exotic Pacific destinations in 2007 'Vida' was equipped with the very best cruising electronics and instruments, including large screen plotter, radar, sounder, autopilot, HF and VHF radios, as well as extra large winches, electric primary winches, powerful anchor winch, cruising anchors, 2 X life-rafts and a brand new set of sails ranging from asymmetrical spinnaker, 4 X spinnakers, Carbon, Dacron and Mylar sails, etc.

Her interior design was intelligently thought out to maximize a feeling of space while dedicating a large, private and usable area to the owner. The whole section aft of the companionway is reserved for the enjoyment of the owner, with an immense cabin, queen-king size bed, 2 X settees, plenty of storage and access to a large ensuite head and shower, which can also be accessed by the main cabin. An abundance of porthole provide plenty of light and cross ventilation.
To starboard is the generously proportioned navigation area, with access to repeaters, switchboards and a comfortable navigation seat and table.
The galley is as beautiful to behold as it is to devise gourmet meals for all circumstances, and equipped with a large stove/oven, double sink, and large capacity fridge and freezer.
The saloon, with the rounded settee in rich cream leather, immaculately varnished mahogany table that extends if necessary to accommodate up to eight guests just invites relaxation or to celebrating with friends and family. Opposite is a recessed settee with two comfortable leather chairs and reading light.

Forward are the two matching guest cabins, with a set of two good size single bunks each equipped with their own reading light. Both cabins access the shared ensuite head and shower, which is well proportioned and offering plenty of storage.

A dedicated crew or storage cabin is accessed via a large hatch forward of the mast. This cabin is also equipped with its own toilet and wash basin.

'Vida' may be a large, extremely competitive yacht, as testify her long history of racing awards, but she is also easily handled by a couple. In fact, her owners are regularly gracing our waterways, gliding past effortlessly as others might need much bigger crews on board.

'Vida' is Australian Registered and ready to sail anywhere in the world.

Regretfully offered for sale as her owners are now ready to move on to other passions, Vida is offered for a sale for a fraction of her replacement cost. She truly presents immaculately and will be the pride and joy of her lucky buyers for decades to come.
