Beneteau First 45 - $129,000 Negotiable

The Beneteau 45F5 is one of the most celebrated design around the world as a fast, extremely strong and sea worthy cruiser/racer.
Designed by Farr for the racing performance, and by Pininfarina for the un-matched interior style.
Built by the top boat manufacturer in the world, the Beneteau First 45 - flagship of the Beneteau Group throughout the early nineties, has aged gracefully, with later radically designed soon shunned by the public to return to a more classic style. In other words, the First 45 has survived the changes of fashion on the market remarkably well, with her classic, racy lines, which are now back throughout all boat manufacturers' new ranges.
The expression "they don't build them like this anymore" is perfectly apt for the older Beneteaus, particularly the First 45. The quality of build, generous thickness of glass with top quality polyester and vinylester resin to minimize the risks of osmosis, real mahogany interior , marble work benches, stronger rudder bearings and longer-lasting fittings throughout the boat are just some example. The result is a beautiful, classic feel to the interior and a powerful, sleek machine to sail around the world or race at your next Sydney-Hobart.

Her cockpit is huge, sitting 8 comfortably, with all lines ran aft, primary power winch, desk organizers and clutches at hands-reach, large wheel and generous storage. Her sleek transom hides a huge marlin board, which comes down when needed, yet does not leave the transom vulnerable in big following seas as modern open transom boats do.  There is no cockpit table fitted but one can easily be ordered from Beneteau and installed.
The deck are safe to walk around in big seas (not that you would have to), offering plenty of hand-holds and good underfoot grip. The boat is rigged in Dyform, which was replaced in 2005.

"Layla" is powered by a reliable Yanmar 75HP, which has been serviced regularly, and which will be serviced again on the 18th of February 2015. She aw last antifouled in December 2014 at Careel Bay Marina.

Designed to accommodate 6-8 people, her interior in incredibly large and functional, with a huge galley running the whole length of the port side (no poky U shape galley here), with marble tops, stainless steel fittings and beautiful mahogany storage lockers. The galley is equipped with a large stainless steel fridge and separate freezer with proper insulation. A new top of the range stove, oven and grill on gimbals was installed in 2008. The sink is a stainless steel  double with drying board and hot and cold pressurized water.

Her saloon is luxurious, with a solid mahogany table and plush upholstery sitting 8 people comfortably. There is ducted air conditioning throughout and plenty of opening hatches for cross ventilation. Forward of the saloon is the stateroom, with a huge double bed to starboard, beautiful curved settee to port and an ensuite with head and shower forward, with access to a large storage compartment.
Two additional queen-size cabins are aft of the cockpit on either side, with plentiful storage and comfortable mattresses.

"Layla" has been lovingly looked after, used regularly by her owners, and her interior presents almost has good as it did at the 1990 Boat Show. Her exterior is un-damaged, but can do with some cosmetic improvements. The windows are UV grazed, and although they do not leak could be replaced for a fresher look. All her valves and skin fitting were replaced in 2013. New Main and Genoa in 2007The teak on cockpit seats was replaced in 2013 .

"Layla" is definitely worth looking at of you are looking for a live-aboard, world cruiser.
