Leopard 40 - $385,000 Neg (All taxes paid)

Immaculately presented Leopard 40 2008.

Dafne has just sailed in from USA with her owners and two young children, taking an Idyllic 2 years to cross the Pacific and explore the East coat of Australia.

It is hard to believe that this yacht has so many sea miles under her keels. Maintained to perfection, Dafne has also undergone a major refurbishment in 2013 and 2014, with both engines replaced with new (2013), new sail drives and props (2014), new water maker (2013), 50% new running rigging (2014), full cruising electronics range with new AIS send/receive (2013), New VHF with DSC (2014), new Wifi (2014), 3 X close-cell batteries (2014), 1200 watts inverter (2013), 220V circuit + shore power cable and extension (2014), (110V USA circuit can be reinstalled), 3 X 215 watt Kyocera solar panels mounted on hard Bimini (2013), 60 amps MPPT controller and monitor (2013) and battery monitor (2014), 12 V USB chargers/outlets added to each cabins and nav stations. Lee Genoa (new 2014), Quantum asymmetrical spinnaker (new 2013), Plastimo Transocean 8-man liferaft (certified 2013), Harken 2 speed electric primary winch (new 2014), etc.

Designed by the celebrated Leopard catamarans are built in South Africa, designed for the rough south Atlantic and Indian Ocean conditions, with seaworthiness in mind, as well as ultimate comfort on board. With large reserve buoyancy forward and a set-back gravity center, her hulls are designed to remain stable no matter the condition, with a reduced danger to accelerate down the face of a wave. Easy to handle for one person or reduced crew, she was the ideal choice for this family with young children to set out on a trans-Pacific voyage. Responsive and always easy on the helm, the Leopard 40 has remained the most awarded Catamaran over the years. Built of the highest quality resin and glass, the leopard boast stronger frames, bulkheads and central support than most other multihulls of this size. Quality of built is also very visible in the details, with the quality of the stainless steel used, gel-coat un-grazed by UV after 5 years, and no sign of electolysis, deterioration of small fittings, hatches, windows, etc. Even the upholstery of her saloon, cushions, mattresses, floors, timber trimmings, cupboards and handles, etc. Have remained in exemplary condition.

One of the most appreciated features of the Leopard 40 is the seamless flow between indoor and outdoor living areas, with the wide sliding door of beautifully tinted reinforced glass with highly polished, top quality stainless steel frames, which divides in two parts, door and window, to completely open the saloon onto the cockpit, with a folding Corian extension that curve out into the cockpit, increasing galley work and serving space. Her two large front opening stainless steel fridge/freezers are easily accessed from both cockpit and interior.
The cockpit, well protected from the elements, remained warm even on the cold and windy day we inspected the boat. The table is angled and curved to maximize seating without impeding in the traffic areas. There are many accessible, large and well designed storage compartments and hatches all around the cockpit, below the helm and aft of the cockpit, which can accommodate all your cruising, diving, fishing gear and water toys.
Retractable weather covers can either be secured down for privacy, rain or sun protection, or zipped out of sight in tidy upwards compartments.

The helm, offering very good visibility, is perfect for sailing in company, with a comfortable bench big enough for two, and designed to give access to all the sheets, instruments and the power winch, so that no movements around the cockpit or deck is necessary when sailing.

Forward, the decks are safe and wide, with a very strong trampoline of tight canvas mesh (not netting), giving access to the wide center platform where generously sized hatches hide the anchor winch, anchor locker and huge storage compartments for ropes, fenders, etc.

Below deck, both hulls are identical, with two queen size aft cabins on either side, a head/shower area midships and large double cabins forward with single berth (can be used for storage) in the forepeak.
The headroom in above 6'4" throughout, with abundant light and cross ventilation. There is plenty of storage areas/hanging lockers and various lockers for all you need on a long voyage. Both showers are separated from the head area by folding glass doors.

Dafne is reluctantly offered for sale as her owners must go back to the US and the children back to school after their dream cruise. She is fully imported in Australia, with all taxes paid, and her voltage was converted to 220V. She was also just antifouled, detailed and polished.

Price to sell fast, she may be just what you have been looking for.
